National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) is a nationwide celebration where Apprenticeship partners host apprenticeship events, issue proclamations to demonstrate the value of apprenticeship in meeting critical industry needs, while creating pathways for career seekers to in-demand careers. Please join Alaskan supporters of Registered Apprenticeship: employers, industry associations, labor organizations, community-based organizations, workforce partners, education providers, and government leaders.

Alaska Apprenticeship Achievements

  • 3,348 active apprentices
  • 12% increase in apprentices since previous year
  • 87,546 average apprentice wage upon program completion
  • 91% of apprentices worked in Alaska 1 year after completion
  • Apprenticeship represents every industry including every area of construction, and growing areas like medical and education

Since NAW’s 2014 inception, Registered Apprenticeship has gained increased recognition as a tool to create the highly skilled workforce necessary to modernize our country’s infrastructure, build clean energy technologies, address cybersecurity threats, and build a stronger care economy, while also creating essential on-ramps for job seekers to enter robust career pathways.

The theme for NAW 2026 is “America at Work: Making America Skilled Again through Registered Apprenticeship” reflecting the transformative power of Registered Apprenticeship and its ability to bring workers and employers together to meet critical workforce needs throughout all industry sectors.

Register your organization’s individual events on the national page and with Shena Marcil at shena.marcil@alaska.gov to be posted them through DOLWD’s social media channels, and website.
